The part of Poil de Carot te was playe d by 11 year old Rober t Lynen, w ho was alle ged to hav e been di scovered whilst wa lking down the Champs- Elysées in Paris. Lynen is totally captivatin g and the film made him an instant star , launch ing what looked like becom ing a very prom ising film career – unt il he was s hot dead whilst fighting a gainst the G ermans i n 1944.
